Hello, I bought a Sendling diesel engine, but I don't know the exact type, power, year of production. Maybe someone can help me.

This is a pre-war Sendling Diesel engine. There were basically 3 sizes, D6, D7 and D12. Compared to the size of the wheels of the cart and the alternator it is probably a D12. When you give me the size (width an diamater) of the flywheels I can tell you what type it is. Can you give me the engine number? I should be punched in above the crankcase cover below the fuel tank. I can see it on the 3rd photo but it's too blurry to read it properly. Maybe I'm able to tell the year of manufacturing from that. You can also have a look under the engine base. Often (but not always) there is the year cast in. It seems to be a mix of parts from different engines. The version of the cylinder head is 1940s with the "Acro" air-chamber in the cylinder head. The crankcase cover with the breather valve seems to be from an mid-1930s engine. Your engine should have the breather behind the flywheel above the injection pump.

Dies ist ein Sendling-Dieselmotor aus der Vorkriegszeit. Es gab im Wesentlichen 3 Größen, D6, D7 und D12. Verglichen mit der Größe der Wagenräder und der Lichtmaschine ist es wahrscheinlich ein D12. Wenn Du mir die Größe (Breite und Durchmesser) der Schwungräder nennst, kann ich Dir sagen, um welchen Typ es sich handelt. Kannst Du mir die Motornummer abschreiben? Sie sollte über dem Kurbelgehäusedeckel unter dem Kraftstofftank eingeschlagen sein. Ich kann sie auf dem 3. Foto sehen, aber das Bild ist zu unscharf, um sie richtig lesen zu können. Vielleicht kann ich daraus das Herstellungsjahr ableiten. Du kannst auch unter den Motorsockel schauen. Oft (aber nicht immer) ist dort eine Jahreszahl eingegossen. Der Motor scheint eine Mischung von Teilen verschiedener Motoren zu sein. Die Version des Zylinderkopfs ist aus den 1940ern mit dem „Acro“-Luftspeicher im Zylinderkopf. Der Kurbelgehäusedeckel mit dem Entlüftungsventil scheint von einem Motor aus der Mitte der 1930er zu stammen. Dein Motor sollte das Schnüffelventil hinter dem Schwungrad über der Einspritzpumpe haben.

OK, from the flywheel diameter I can tell that is`s a D12. A Sendling D12 is rated 10-12 HP @ 925-1075 rpm and it should weigh about 410 kg dry. I guess it was built around 1940, but I'm not sure. Maybe you can find a casting year under the crankcase. Otherwise you can search for production dates on the Bosch injection pump or nozzle. It's always a number followed by a character like "5Y" or "12M". I can decode this to an manufacturing year and month.

The lower lever is to prime the injection pump or to stop the engine.

OK, anhand des Schwungraddurchmessers kann ich sagen, dass es ein D12 ist. Der Sendling D12 hat 10-12 PS bei 925-1075 U/min und sollte trocken etwa 410 kg wiegen. Ich schätze, er wurde um 1940 gebaut, bin mir aber nicht sicher. Vielleicht findest Du unter dem Kurbelgehäuse ein Gussjahr. Ansonsten kannst Du nach Fertigungscodes auf der Bosch-Einspritzpumpe und -Düse suchen. Es ist immer eine Zahl, gefolgt von einem Buchstaben, z.B. „5Y“ oder „12M“. Daraus kann man Herstellungsjahr und -Monat bestimmen.

Der untere Hebel dient zum Vorpumpen oder zum Abstellen des Motors.
